BG74 Gottingen vs. FMP Belgrad (Game 2) 76:71

Goettingen became the second team to reach EuroChallenge Final Four. The German team held off FMP in Serbia to sweep the quarterfinal series. Taylor Rochestie once again shone for the visitors with 25 points. The first frame proved decisive in this one. FMP led 10:8 after five straight points from Jeremic. But Goettingen capped the period on a 17:2 run to take a 25:12 advantage. Taylor Rochestie and Jason Boone stretched the gap at 14-point mark midway through the second period. The visitors maintained the lead and entered the second half ahead by 14 points 42:28. Goettingen stayed confidently in front early in the third stanza but FMP managed to rebound late in the period. The hosts triggered a 12:0 run to get within one. Meeks and Jason Boone went perfect from the stripe to give some breathing space for Goettingen. However Nemanja Protic crowned the frame with a trey to drag FMP within two points 54:56 with ten minutes to go. Branko Lazic drew things level at 58 just over a minute into the fourth term but Chris Oliver and Taylor Rochestie exploded with 8 points in a row to restore a comfortable cushion for Goettingen. The seesaw action continued when Branko Lazic and Samardziski knotted things up at 68. Meeks followed with three free throws to put the German team back in the drivers seat. Nemanja Protic answered with a jumper but Jason Boone and Taylor Rochestie sealed the winning outcome in the dying moments. Chris Oliver produced 15 points for Goettingen. Jason Boone knocked down 12 points in the winning case. Nemanja Protic responded with 16 points, 6 assists and 4 boards for FMP. Branko Lazic had 14 points in defeat.

SLAUGHTERHOUSE

So last year rumors of Slaughterhouse (the Hip Hop supergroup consisting of Joe Budden, Crooked I, Joel Ortiz, and Royce Da 5'9") signing to Eminem's Shady Records were running rampant all over the Internet. The rumors were mostly the result of their appearance with Eminem during his verse in Drake's video for "Forever" and the recent reconciliation between Eminem and Royce Da 5'9". It seemed that label politics stopped the deal from happening, and the prospect of Hip Hops best new group of lyricists signing to the label of one of Hip Hops greatest MCs would be lost for now. That is, until all the the Twitter rumors started acting up:

"RT @Floss_B: @RoyceDaFive9 what surprise does #Slaughterhouse have for the fans tomorrow? (I'm impatient)<- patience my good man.." - Royce Da 5'9" Twitter
The trending topic from then on was all about Slaughterhouse signing to Shady Records. The next announcement from Eminem's Twitter seemed to only reinforce everyones suspicions:

"And don't worry. Some big news is coming. Soon." - via Eminem's Twitter around 10pm Central (yesterday)

"And if you like the whiteboy, then yo ass might as well start liking me too, cuz from here on out anytime you see him...you gon' see me too" - via Royce Da 5'9" Nobody F*ckin Wit Us (Bar Exam 3 leak this morning).

I know this doesn't seem like much evidence but in this day and age Twitter has replaced most media outlets as the number one source for breaking news - 140 Characters has replaced 60 Minutes. SMH!! I guess we'll find out once Slaughterhouse makes their announcement, until then check out Slaughterhouse holdin' Em down in Drake's "Forever" Video:

Tiger's Rehab

With Tiger's return to Golf right around the corner I was curious as to how he was preparing himself for the comeback of the century. I mean I never watch Golf but I have my DVR set for April 8th and the Master's in it's entirety. The only thing that could make this better would be if he paired up with Lefty and it came down to the final shot...and Mickelson wouldn't mind that.

Although I never trust a person with two first names, Ben Curtis said that Tiger looked a little rusty in his return...but for Golf's sake I hope he got all the kinks out and totally dominates next week...I'll be looking forward to it...

Note To Self: Don't Enter The Russian Dunk Contest

Okay so last night we began the EuroChallenge Top 8 and got the advantage by getting the first win. But that blog will follow. This blog deals with a team we played to get to this point (Krasnodar) and a big time ex-NBA player that they had on their team (Gerald Green). We should all know by now that if players don't stick in the NBA that they come to Europe and try to stay financially taken care of until they get another shot but who would have thought that two of the best ex-NBA dunk contest participants would get the chance to meet in one of the best Dunk Contests I've ever seen halfway around the world? I, for one, was very impressed...what about you?

Sweet Sixteen

Thanks to the Alma Mater of my teammates Ben and John (University of Northern Iowa) my, and the rest of the United States' brackets are all messed up. Luckily no one turned their money in on time and I got to save the 20 euros that would for sure be lost if I did enter a pool.

If you had Kansas and Villanova losing you are either a genius, very lucky, or a liar...but that's not why my bracket is so bad...looking elsewhere, these are the picks that messed me up this year...

The teams I had going deep... Texas A&M and Vanderbilt

The teams I had losing early... Butler Xavier Purdue and Washington

Half my Final Four picks are out and West Virginia and Kansas St. didn't look like Final Four teams this weekend...but there's always NCAA tournament 2011

JUST WRIGHT Update

Although I don't have as many lines as my boy Spencer did in his Cop Doc Debut (if you don't know Spencer it's probably not worth sitting through this video) #imjustsaying

I"m hoping that "my debut movie" Just Wright does the damn thing...in case you missed me on the blog awhile back, feel free to pause it at 41secs and see me running back to the Heat bench (I'm number 35)

Or pause it at 48secs and see our team huddle (again, I'm number 35)

Or pause it at 38 and see me under Common's left armpit

Everyone has gotta start somewhere, let's just hope all of my scenes didn't get cut...because that'd suck big time.
Oh yeah, he was on my team in the movie

Enjoy the Trailer...Movie is in Theaters May 14th
Oh and you can see me get "faced up" by Common at 1:52

My Mom's On Facebook

Chill out Malcolm, I didn't actually mean our mom, but as we all know there are a TON of parents on facebook these days. Some blame it on the fact that it's a great way  to find old friends and classmates, others applaud the ease and accessibility to stay in the know. I feel that it's most dangerous in the schools when teachers sign up and play Mafia Wars all hours of the night instead of checking their students homework but anyway I'm rambling. Point of this blog was to reiterate the fact that, every college student goes away to college for some sort of independence. They want to pass out at dorm parties, dance on bars, and make out with numerous people and the next day, not have to explain to their parents what happened. But friending your son or daughter can lead to many uncomfortable exchanges like this in the future. So I'd recommend either going over some ground rules or refusing the urge to send that friend request...because I'm a drama free kind of person. Haha.

Parents...understand this is exactly how your kid feels about you being on facebook whether they told you or not

March Madness

It's that time of year again people. The best weekend of basketball. Over the next four days the field will be narrowed from 64 to 16 and more than likely I'll have about 5-6 teams left in my bracket. Although, since I have not been following college basketball this year, I think that my odds to win may have gone up. Funny how that happens right? Anyway, I wasn't sure which of these methods would work for me...

We agreed on some things...others we didn't. But in either case here are a few of my picks...

Predictions Out of the Gate...
No 9 Northern Iowa will play eventual champs Kansas very tough in the second round
Two No. 12's (Cornell and UTEP) and One No. 13 (Siena) will make the second round

My Bracket is for money so I didn't pick these...but if they happen I won't be shocked...
No. 13 Houston smacks Maryland (they have the nation's top scorer)
No. 14 Oakland beats Pitt (Pitt always finds a way to screw up my bracket)

I'll be keeping tabs on how (bad) I do this year after each round...I hope you all will get to enjoy the tournament as much as us basketball players...if yesterday's blog was true you should all be slacking for the rest of the tournament

We All Knew It

...but Daniel H. Pink said it

Factoid of the day: March Madness means (less) business

The folks over at Challenger Gray & Christmas have taken a look at what happens in the workplace when people are lured into the force field that is the NCAA basketball tournament.
The results?
They estimate that during the first week of the tournament alone, workers distracted by March Madness (and that includes you, Mr. President) could cost employers as much as $1.8 billion in wages.

But my friend EJ was curious as to how much Facebook costs employers on daily basis?

Telephone

MTV has deemed it inappropriate for its viewers to watch Lady Gaga’sTelephone video, so the music channel is banning the provocative and controversial mini movie-cum-music video. Other networks are expected to follow MTV’s lead, but the millions of people who have seen the video on YouTube do not seem to mind.

The controversial video has riled the sensitivities of some people for its raunchy content, which includes lesbian kissing and a lot of boobs, not to mention parental-advisory-worthy lines. The video has received over 14 million hits just three days since its debut. “Telephone” opens with a bra-less Lady Gaga being escorted to her jail cell by two bra-flashing guards, as female inmates salivate at the new jailbird.

Gaga is then stripped to her undies, prompting someone to quip: “I told you she didn’t have a d—.” Lady Gaga is rumored to have been born a hermaphrodite. The video also features Beyonce, who also shows a lot of skin, and is directed by Jonas Akerlund. “Telephone” is the second collaboration between Lady Gaga and Akerlund after their highly successful “Paparazzi.”

Gaga’s official website describes the video as “gritty, erotic and wildly fierce” and claims,” Gaga's on-screen chemistry with BeyoncĂ© transforms the song from a popular dance floor gem to a raw and explosive piece of art.”

Enjoy (all that product placement)

She's come a long way since the days that we sat in class together at NYU. Actually we never had a class together but I would see her at the basketball games all the time. Actually that's also I lie I never knew who she was or that she went to NYU until she got famous. #wewouldhavedated

The New Wierd Al?

Yes some (I'm On A Boat and Jizz In My Pants) are better than others (Like A Boss) but to date, I haven't seen a Lonely Island video that didn't make me laugh. I don't know if it's Andy Samberg's delivery/facial expressions, the fact that the beats are hot and/or the hooks are catchy. But whatever it is, they are back at it with their latest single...
